EPG Winner of DarwinIA September 2024

Number 1 on DarwinIA for the second time in 4 and a half years. Coincidence or EPG is a hell of a Strategy?

Let’s remember that DarwinIA is the monthly competition in which more than 7,000 Darwins participate, including the Gold and Silver leagues. Among these 7,000 Darwins there are real trading monsters that in September 2024 have had to give way to our EPG.

Note to Investors

Of course this goal is very important for the recognition of a work maintained over the years. But above all, it is a reward for those investors who have been with us for a whole year of stagnation. From enduring a 16% drawdown, the largest DD in EPG’s history. To those investors in particular. Thank you!

Of those long-suffering investors there are also a handful who just as EPG regained its ATH (All Time High) withdrew and settled for recouping losses. To those investors also Thank You, and I’m sorry you missed EPG’s last Home Run. Don’t worry, there is always time to enjoy the next Home Run. What better way than to enjoy it with your company?

Background

This first position is especially sweet for us because we are coming from a very difficult time. 2023 was a very tough year, it left a deep mark on our trading with 7 consecutive months in the red – the hole – wrong decisions and a strange year. It is said that the volatility of 2023 caused many good Darwins to underperform.

I really don’t know what happened in 2023, but the thing is EPG suffered. No anomaly as the Backtests reflected that behavior. We were within normality, but sustained red numbers put a lot of pressure. Fortunately in the last quarter EPG was able to pull itself together and close the year at a moderate 3% loss.

At the beginning of 2024 we were back on track with forecasts to close 2024 with a 15% profit until September 2024 arrived with a spectacular month: 13% profit. Come’on!

September 2024

There has not been a particularly good week, all of them have been. The strategies of the portfolio that make up EPG have been able to balance each other. They have not all won, not by a long shot! I continue with my problems with Gold – yes, ladies and gentlemen, we maintain Gold in EPG. If you want we will open a point of discussion on this in a future post or comments.

What has happened is that all the strategies have been able to balance each other, the extraordinary gains of some offset the losses of the others, and when the first did not work well the others took over.

Next

This first position of DarwinIA has little effect on EPG’s normal operations. We will continue as we have always continued in these 4 and a half years. Operating, making mistakes, learning from our mistakes and growing.

Of course, we will drink a nice cold beer and toast with friends, if possible. Cheers!
